INFORMATICS FOOTBALL

Informatics Football is open to all Undergrad, MSC, PHD and staff members from The School of Informatics and we try to cater for all skill levels of player,

from the fun social player to the more serious and competitive 11-a-sides players through various types of games throughout the course of the year.

11-a-sides

If you are interested in joining our 11-a-side team which play games in the University's Saturday Intra Mural League during semesters 1 and 2, as well as various friendly games throughout the rest of the year then please email either Garry Ellard (gde@infREMOVE_THIS.ed.ac.uk), or Gary McGilvary (gary.mcgilvary@edREMOVE_THIS.ac.uk) or Matej Mezes (matej.mezes@gmailREMOVE_THIS.com). Matches are normally played on Saturdays at Peffermill Playing Fields (though occasionally elsewhere and on othere days) and usually cost 3 per player to help cover pitch hire and referee costs.

Training

We run a weekly training session on Tuesday nights 9-10pm on the 3G pitch at Peffermill Playing Fields and welcome anyone who wishes to join us. The sessions normally involve some fitness work to start, followed by some training and ball skills drills and we always finish the session with a game. Costs are 2-3 per player (dependent on our numbers) to cover the pitch hire fee. These sessions are a great fun way to meet most of the Informatics Football crowd and a good starting point if you are interested in becoming a regular part of the 11-a-sides team. They are also good for anyone who either fancies getting a little fitter or playing a little football. Training runs through out Semesters 1 and 2. Any queries or comments about training can be directed to Samuel.Drake@edREMOVE_THIS.ac.uk

Weekly 5-a-sides Games

On Thursday nights we have a weekly friendly 5-a-sides game at Peffermill from 8:30pm -9:30pm. This game runs every week through semesters 1 & 2. This is outdoors on a 3G surface and costs 1.50 per player. Places can be claimed by replying to the weekly emails and Facebook messages and are on a first come first served basis or by contacting J.R.wilson-kanamori@smsREMOVE_THIS.ed.ac.uk directly. All levels of player are welcome to join us for these games. We also enter teams in various indoor 5-a-side leagues and competitions throughout the year, again contact us for further info.
