Please note that I'm doing this as I'm surrounded by people with self managed Linux and Mac OS X machines and need some way of communicating advice as to how they should look after their machines. I am utterly terrified of some of the things I see going on.

I happen to be managing numerous self managed Mac OS X and Fedora based machines hence I thought I'd start things off.
