1. More 3rd Year Coursework Issues - IP.

Issues with:

• Ill-defined goals for the IP first submission
• Only clear after the first submissions was complete
• Lecturer promises clearer goals for the next submission
• Issue about support for developing a new IP (how much effort?).

More general point: James has sent out UG3 survey on coursework issues in terms - too much pure mechanics - not enough documentation. Example lack of detail on the kephera robot.

Proposal: That before exposing students to practical work, the practical should be completed in conditions as close to those students will be exposed to - not using a TA on the course as the "lab rat". This should also be used as an estimate for time taken. Looking at avoiding time spent unproductively.

OS coursework: excellent - good reference.

Look at deadlines that have strayed into wk 11.

2. 3rd Year Algorithms & Data Structures - Lecture attendance

• Very badly attended lectures
• Issues are with departure of Amin - marking, revision lectures, ... Deal with this systematically for absences/departures.
• Discuss with Amin
• Recovering from difficulties?? Labs?

3. 4th year and Msc courses - support?

• PMR does have tutorials - handouts are the best thing in the course and goes beyond the course.
• Deeper references
• Look at support for larger courses?

4. Actions taken after SSLC

• UG3 SSLC - action points? Minutes available.
• Consider minutes at FTL - review and see if there actions it would be good to clear up quickly

5. Non-specialist maths review.

• Voiced their dissatisfaction with the courses.
• Feeling the MfI course is poorly connected to what they are doing at the same time.
• E.g. people forget how to multiply matrices by the time they reach
• Our lecturers don't know what is in the curriculum
• Issues about quality of teaching.
