Notes 9 February 2009

  • Action for Notes - Neil and Stuart to investigate moving Inf2B wiki to an informatics server. -
  • Ceilidh organisation: numbers stable - nothing needs to be done this week - carry forward to next week. Neil to check on servitors.
  • Mathematics courses: report on developments from Stuart. Issue about timing of Maths handins - Neil to report. Stuart and Neil to explore support for Inf students in Mathematics.
  • Assessment in Inf3: 3-4 third year courses have moved to exam-only mode. Concerns voiced by students at BoS - follow up here - BoS position is to accept - next BoS is on 11 Mar. Coursework is not weighted enough. Comparison with other schools. Compare SDP essay with much lower valued courseworks. Feel that coursework load makes it hard to engage with things. Smaller courseworks? Most students would prefer to keep coursework.
  • Examination Rubrics etc. - report from BoS . Request for solutions to be released on the day of the examinations.
  • National Student Survey - issues about how to rate joint degrees - Neil and Stuart to raise with Simon Jennings.
  • Graduation Ball - James and Sarah to investigate report back
