Notes from the TLRP TEL seminar on Capacity Building (16/1/2007)
4 main "research challenges" were in the call - many proposals did not mention ANY of them:
personalization
inclusion
flexibility
productivity
don't just mention them for the sake of it, show how you address them. you don;t need to address ALL of them....
there were very few references to "capacity building" in the proposals
you must demonstrate awareness of TLRP's aims
Interdisciplinarity is key
Keen to get new young researchers into the field
Users of the tech should be active participants, not passive subjects
Need more awareness of the other TLRP projects - look at their website http://www.tlrp.org/, and make use of existing/former TLRP work
If possible involve teacher-resarchers in the project
Can you bring commercial partners in ?
Proposals need a "theoretical framework" (proposals from CS were strong on this)
Proposals shuld state how to evaluate learning outcomes - but this is more that pre- and post- tests: what do you mean by "learning" and how can you measure it?
there is a key feedback report from Andrew Pollard, director of TLRP somewhere at http://www.tlrp.org/ (i can't find it) that we should read.
