  • Beowulf is the technology used to build compute clusters from standard Linux machines

Local Resources

  • GridEngine is the job control system running on the dedicated compute clusters, listed below by their head node name:
    • hermes 24 dual-processor-equivalent Dell PE1425 3.2GHz nodes with 2Gb RAM per node (48 processors)
    • lion 64 single-processor Dell gx240 1.8GHz nodes with 1Gb RAM per node (64 processors)
    • lutzow 16 single-processor Dell 1.7GHz nodes with 1Gb RAM per node (16 processors)
    • townhill 34 quad-processor-equivalent Dell PE1425 3.2GHz nodes with 4Gb RAM per node (136 processors) for CSTR/ICCS use.
