This Wiki Web is the holding place for user contributed documentation relating to the distributed computing tools and software available within Informatics. The intention is that this web will move to a different URL, ie something other than wiki.inf.ed.ac.uk, so please bear this in mind when linking to it.

Technologies

  • Beowulf is the technology used to build compute clusters from standard Linux machines

Local Resources

  • GridEngine is the job control system running on the dedicated compute clusters.

  • Condor is the job control system running on desktop machines

  • GPFS is a parallel filesystem currently under test in the School.
