Technical Discussion meeting

The technical discussion meeting is intended to be a freeform forum for computing people (and perhaps any other interested parties?) to discuss technical matters which they find of interest. The meetings will normally take place on the final Wednesday of the month, starting at 2pm. Notes will be taken during the meeting and a summary of matters discussed produced. Anyone can suggest a topic for discussion for the meeting, please add your suggestions below:

  • RPM package naming guidelines - neilb
  • gitlab and similar type software - cms
    • How best should we deal with gitlab type software installs, ie where they provide a pre-packaged suite of software, eg apache, openssh, DB, etc that does not track quickly enough (if at all) the security updates that we would be applying the individual packages.
