Completion Report for Migration of Theon Course Feed to APT

This project was to modify the course feed to use a supplementary feed of data from APT to provide what is needed for submit during 2017/18 as well as some related tidying up.

All the principal deliverables were met:

  • Remove automated messages to student and staff related to assessment process - Met on August 30th 2017
  • Review and remove content no longer necessary on course.inf pages (sortable list) - Met on August 30th 2017
  • Review and remove content no longer necessary on student.inf pages - Met on August 30th 2017 [also restyled for consistency with the tutorial group choice pages]
  • Feed of APT course assessment data sufficient to drive "submit" - Met on August 25th 2017

These additional deliverables were also done. They were tacked on following Teaching Committee discussion regarding late submission handling. While not directly related to the project goal they were associated with the things that this project was also changing and were all cheap to implement and so were added here.

  • add exam diet onto sortable list getting the data from upstream - Met on October 10th 2017
  • a script for submit that scans the log returning submission times - Met on September 19th 2017
  • make submit show a message on submission reminding users of late submission policy - Met on September 19th 2017

Effort

Effort given to this project was 20 hours.

Conclusion

Not a lot to say - project had a fast approaching hard deadline and this was met. In retrospect it probably didn't need to be a project, but OTOH it certainly didn't seem in the least bit harmful or onerous to track this small bit of work as a project.
