Managing guests using virt-manager
As a GUI interface, virt-manager is relatively self-explanatory to use.
By default virt-manager will only connect to the user's guests on the
local server.
To connect to the system hypervisor on a remote server you need to
add the server using the File/Add Connection tab, with settings similar
to the following :-
Adding an ISO image
virt-manager
makes it fairly easy to add an ISO image file to a VM - that is, put a virtual CD in the virtual CD drive - so that the VM can for example boot from the CD. Once virt-manager has connected to the remote server (see above), connect to the required VM, click "Details" then select "ISO CDROM 1". Give a value for "Source path" which describes where on the KVM server you have put the ISO image. (Then remember to copy the iso image to that location!) ISO files should be put on the KVM server's local filesystem, rather than on a network filesystem such as AFS.
