eFinancials Printing

When eFinancials purchase orders are printed this results in a remote LPD print job being sent from an MIS server (currently fenton) directly to the corresponding printer (lpd port) completely bypassing our print server. The setup for this is as follows.

In the live header ipfilter.h there is a definition for the printer port 515 (printer), a list of machines allowed incoming routed access to the printer wire ( allowToWireN ) and a definition for the MIS printers server network (misprint).

For each printer that requires access the individual printer profile has to have the lines.

#include <dice/options/ipfilter.h>

ipfilter.export mADD(printer-misprint)

Individual printers should be configured to have their default gateway as infcups.ed.ac.uk. This can be done through DHCP.

MIS controls the setup of the printer queues which appear in the eFinancials user interface. Note that each user can only use one printer and that can only be changed by selecting a new one and waiting for an overnight update (otherwise phone MIS).

Information on eFinancials can be found on the university eFinancials wiki, where there is also guidance on printer setup.

Officially there is an email address to contact for help, fisusers@edREMOVE_THIS.ac.uk. In practice it may be more useful to directly contact either the finance support person Michael.Curtis@edREMOVE_THIS.ac.uk or the IS computing contact Paul.Ranaldi@edREMOVE_THIS.ac.uk.
