MPU Meeting Monday 30th April 2007

LCFG Website

Stephen is sorting out the parsing of Solaris package lists. He'll add Solaris pages to the web site before adding Mac pages. We think the Mac support needs a bit more attention before being promoted on the web site.

Solaris Improvement Project

Chris reckons that the main thing we really need to tackle is patching, which currently takes a prohibitively long time, so he's looking at that next. He'll also ensure that the existing documentation covers questions such as The install server has just melted, how do I make a new one?

FC5 Upgrade

Alastair is looking into FC5 support for laptops, specifically to try and dump the divine component in favour of network.

FC6 Project

All done except for Carol's testing of the HP d530, HP7100 and Dell GX260.

64bit Project

Component ownership
We're going to adopt the nfs and localhome components from Ken and the xinetd component from Toby.

Network component problem
An old problem with this manifested itself at the weekend and caused havoc. Alastair's fixed it. Chris needs to incorporate the fix into this week's testing release to get it out quickly.

Monitors in LCFG
Lots of monitors have their special LCFG resources in profiles rather than using the relevant headers. We need to clean this up.

The file macros for the diydice server should specify user and group ownership for the things it creates.

Stephen has sorted pxe booting for the Infrastructure unit.
