Final Report for IGS Theon Reports Revision

Final report for the #331 IGS Theon Reports Revision computing project. See Theon Review Document May2014 for the original (redacted) IGS Theon reports review carried out by Kate Farrow and Teresa Ironside.

All the identified review issues were addressed as well as all comparable changes to broadcast, workflow and exception message conduits (largely not listed in the above review). Also checked and corrected some issues with the conduits generating PGR related (or including) mailing lists. At the same time all reports were modernised, in particular with regard to base query for the student cohort as well as for handling of supplemental data.

In total this project:

  • updated 106 distinct conduits/reports (just under one half of the total)
  • made a total of ~350 actual changes (although quite a few of these reflect the same identical or functionally identical change to more than one report)
  • made over ~100 distinct repository commits
  • took a total of nearly three weeks effort (95 hours).

The project brought all PGR related output from Theon into alignment with the current standard query conventions for status and currency extraction as well as for formatting. Some small presentational improvements were also made. The resulting reports are now very much more consistent and correct.

Some points of note:

  • Each set of changes (asscoiated with a particular Portal folder) went through a QA review process for user acceptance. This collaborative process was helpful for making sure the report was doing the correct thing and for checking any data anomalies revealed in the report.
  • Some feed and structural related changes were made as a consequence of this project (as a result of anomalies identified in the data), in particular the supervision related feed was modified.
