Self-managed machines and firewall holes

  • All self-managed machines with firewall holes are now reviewed annually - see annual firewall review documentation
  • When a request is made to open up ssh holes purely for access by non-University staff/visitors, this should be declined. Instead, the requestor should be asked to request a visitor account. The access to the self-managed machine should then be via one of our ssh servers. It also means that the person is bound by the University Computing Regulations. (We restrict ssh access to a limited number of DICE machines and so the same should also apply to self-managed machines.)
