Please fill in actual activity for Last Month (August) and intended activity for This Month (September) for projects you are responsible for. For reference, the intended activity recorded for August is included where an entry had been made (it is considered unhelpful to alter this to match what actual activity was :). It is acceptable to change devproj milestones as part of this process, however if you do please indicate that you have done so below, for example by adding a Change of Plan bullet point, so that the meeting is alerted to the changes.

    • Last Month: Wait for dependency (#164 AFS test suites)
    • This Month: Wait for dependency (#164 AFS test suites)

  • Inventory Improvement
    • August: Modify schema/workflows depending on feedback.
    • Last Month: Little feedback received, possibly because braindump hard to understand? Prototype modified to no longer purge items on order reload - means easier to track items rather than just systems.
    • This Month: Propose holding two meetings - one to check design matches "user" requirements, and one for technical discussion

  • Prometheus AFS PTS conduit
    • August: Agree sign off with Inf unit, sign off
    • Last Month: Code awaiting review by inf unit

    • This Month: first functional forms

  • School Database Revamp: Phase 1B & 2B
    • August: System catalog load and sync tests have been started, so continue with this. After some repository re-configuration the first part of the new processes can now get brought into service in parallel with the old processes.
    • Last Month: Practically nothing due to imposed SAT, NSS and HTBN related work as well as annual leave.
    • This Month: Start running the new processes alongside the old.

    • This Month: Sign-off

  • Streaming Media Service Requirements
    • August: Complete draft report document and check with users. Meet with Austin to arrange media data copying.
    • Last Month: Prepared draft report document.
    • This Month: Confirm options/service offered by IS: collaborate or stall?

  • Lifecycle code design
    • August: Get code into state it can be submitted for code-review. Do some testing of code on test prometheus server.
    • Last Month: Code has been polished and is almost ready for submission for review. Running against real data on test prometheus server and test ldap has been quite successful. Some edge cases have warranted further thought.
    • This Month: Submit to gerrit. Continue testing. Write tool for querying/modifying lifecycle status. Document design. Think about putting into service once code has been reviewed and new accounts, etc. have settled down.

  • Investigate AFS on ECDF storage
    • August: Access to ECDF. ZFS investigations.
    • Last Month: Won't do anything regarding ZFS. Brief chat to Orlando, but nothing else.

    • Last Month: Further tests written.
    • This Month: Finish test suite. Write up final report.

  • Replace CVS with SVN on www.inf
    • August: Finish planning document, confer with RaT on removal of DB-generated stuff from CVS (potential block of project).
    • Last Month: Worked on planning document, checked DB-generated stuff (can probably work around RaT requirements). Some testing on belter.
    • This Month: Finish testing on belter, check test SVN with users. Finalise conversion options, complete planning document.

  • DICE virtual image with teaching software for students
    • August:
    • Last Month: Wrote users a tool to download DICE auth so they can work offline; documented; packaged. Tweaked images' config. Documented the management & production of images for MPU. Started the user documentation.
    • This Month: Finish the user documentation. Find a distribution point for the images. Final snagging. Publicity and launch.

  • Further AFS development and automation
    • August: Implement a setafsquotas replacement
    • Last Month: Wrote a new version of setafsquotas, called setsmartafsquotas, which only increases a user's AFS quota in 1GB chunks as their usage increases. Other than that, just some thinking about what to bite off next.
    • This Month: I've hardly spent any of the 2 weeks allocated to this project, something like 1.5 days. But it has resulted in a useful change to our automated quota provision. This may be a convenient time to stall this process depending on what is prioritised for T3, and what requires my effort. So what I do will depend on what CSG and/or CEG think. If this project does remain on going, then I'll probably look at disconnecting our current relationship between where a RW volume goes and it's corresponding offsite RO volume.

  • Display SAT info on AT foyer display screens
    • August:Marry feed and sync data
    • Last Month: lots of work on the conduit to get the data to sync, packaged up the rbs revisions
    • This month: write reports to generate timetables and deploy on display screens
