    • July: Discuss existing system with more CSOs/COs. Produce report

    • This Month: Meeting on 1st Aug with interested CO/CSOs. Produce report

  • Implement print quotas via Pcounter
    • July: decide how to present to user.
    • Last Month: command line based utility written
    • This Month: Make Cl utility available, make decision on web version and implement if necessary, resubmit for sign off

  • Prometheus AFS PTS conduit
    • July: write code, submit.
    • Last Month: Mocking functions written, datastore test suite mostly written
    • This Month: write conduit test suite, push upstream for approval

  • Server Hardware Interaction phase 2
    • July: Make the script insert its gathered numbers into the ordershost database. Start automatically gathering BIOS and firmware details from all servers. Special bonus action: try out Dell's OMSA 7.0 RPMs if they appear in Dell's Linux repository.
    • Last Month: Worked on insertion of data to database. Tried out OMSA and gave up on it.
    • This Month: Make the script insert its gathered numbers into the ordershost database. Start automatically gathering BIOS and firmware details from all servers.

  • OpenLDAP 2.4 Upgrade
    • July: Upgrade franklin (LDAP master) to SL5/OpenLDAP 2.4; then to SL6_64/OpenLDAP 2.4
    • Last Month: Detailed testing of prometheus->LDAP->{syncrepl,slaprepl} clients
    • This Month: Upgrade franklin (LDAP master) to SL5/OpenLDAP 2.4; then to SL6_64/OpenLDAP 2.4, week beginning Mon 13th August.

  • Account reconciliation
    • July: if we get end-date, pick up again
    • Last Month: We now have end date information from the database
    • This Month: Pick up again, depending on time

  • Introduction of Drupal as the new commodity WCMS
    • July: Decide whether to keep looking at Cosign or drop it. More drupal use. Workflow and multi-site milestones.
    • Last Month: Decided to keep looking at Cosign, and seem to have it working now. Made a couple of small changes to the code, which I plan to share with "drupal experts" and then submit back up stream. Installed actual drupal hardware (belter.inf). Holidays and other work have got in the way of doing much more. Didn't look at the workflow or multi-site milestones.
    • This Month: Plan on concentrating on the multi-site milestones and backup of the service so we can at least offer a bare-bones drupal service to those in need, even though it will be mostly hand configured ie not too dissimilar to the initial Plone WCMS.

  • Rationalisation of roles & entitlements
    • July: Tidy namespace (delete obsolete, query unused)
    • Last Month: no activity
    • This Month: Tidy namespace as above, defer procedural changes until Prometheus life-cycle code available (discuss organisational and mananagement changes)

  • inf-unit SL6 server platform work
    • July: Once new KB SL6 console server is installed, set that up as ifriend slave. Then, upgrade berlin (cosign, ifriend kdc slave) to SL6; plan on osprey (cosign, ifriend kdc master) after that.
    • Last Month: cosign upgrades still waiting on KB server; prometheus blocked on perl-AFS; did IF and AT netserv upgrades;start looking at netInf upgrades
    • This Month: Continue with netInf upgrades: revisit Tnm packaging, test switch configuration code, swap in new AT netInf server, take stock. Install KB console server/netinf machine and proceed with other work which that has blocked.

  • MPU SL6 Server Upgrades
    • July:
    • Last Month: Upgraded the AFS packages server telford. Started work on upgrading bugzilla
    • This Month: Complete work on bugzilla

  • School Database Revamp: Phase 1B & 2B
    • July: BoE adjustments for resit examinations in August. More on change management.
    • Last Month: Limited activity. Some of each of above done. Extensive re-work on HTBN process.
    • This Month: Complete HTBN process. Complete diet process changes for resit (in first few weeks). Handle session rollover (first since full integration). Meet with ISS to prioritise the remaining work relating to BoE and other taught student processes.

  • SL6 upgrade for RAT Unit
    • July: RT4; continuing on research servers.
    • Last Month: A trickle of SL6 upgrades.
    • This Month: RT4 (for real)

  • KDC upgrade to 1.9
    • July: start upgrading slaves if AFS blocker is cleared
    • Last Month: no activity due to holidays
    • This Month: start upgrading slaves in conjunction with services for afsdb

  • System Security Enhancements
    • July: Finish log processing software. Begin work on enhanced rootkit checking.
    • Last Month: Almost completed log processing software.
    • This Month: Start processing syslogs. Enhance the rootkit checking.
