    • March: Resolve rsync timeouts and signoff project.

  • EUCLID Interoperability
    • March: Nothing (on hold).
    • Last Month: Nothing.
    • This Month: Nothing, on hold awaiting write up and sign off.

  • School Database Revamp
    • March: Nothing, but now into starting tidy up process to wind up project.
    • Last Month: Nothing.
    • This Month: Nothing, on hold awaiting write up and sign off.

  • inSpace
    • March: finish component
    • Last Month: Nothing
    • This Month: finish component

  • Redevelop User Documentation
    • March: Schedule meetings with other Units. Continue porting with the aim of going live at end of April. This will require input from other Units. Need to confirm with each Unit what documentation is missing/needs to be written.
    • Last Month: Met RAT and Services. MPU to be scheduled. Upgraded ladbroke (development machine) to latest version of drupal with no problem.
    • This Month: Move farringdon to KVM and upgrade to latest version of drupal. Work with Units on remaining documentation.

  • Move www.inf to new technology
    • March: Probably nothing.
    • Last Month: Successfully did nothing
    • This Month: Again, not likely as other things (cookies and drupal) are more important

  • Prometheus AFS PTS conduit
    • March:
    • Last Month: Mock stub functions written/tested, code changes to accommodate same
    • This Month: Write tests
    • Comment: This may block the SL6 upgrade path

  • OpenLDAP 2.4 Upgrade
    • March: n/a: project stalled
    • Last Month: n/a: project stalled
    • This Month: Begin porting LDAP slave servers to SL6/OpenLDAP 2.4; monitor any problems

  • Account reconciliation
    • March: Review scripts. Continue archival/deletion.
    • Last Month: Scripts reviewed/adjusted. Removed additional entitlement giving account for all users (this was added when prometheus was rolled out to ensure consistency between downstream stores). Next batch of deletions categorised and ready to go.
    • This Month: Continue deletions

  • Introduction of Drupal as the new commodity WCMS
    • March: Update milestones. More investigations on recommended modules and workflow.
    • Last Month: Very little. Some thinking!
    • This Month: The investigations of modules and workflow that I didn't do last month.

  • inf-unit SL6 server platform work
    • March: Continue with upgrade process based on wiki page
    • Last Month: rfe server-side believed done; most network infrastructure packages and services ported and tested on a backup router; console servers done (apart from JCMB, which is on ancient hardware); monitoring system done (but secondary server can't be upgraded yet due to colocation with Jabber). Had a taking-stock meeting, to look at what's next and assign names to tasks.

  • Simple KVM service
    • March: Sign off. Create a project to track migration from VMware to KVM.

  • MPU SL6 Server Upgrades
    • March: Finish preparation for LCFG master server upgrade and possibly perform upgrade; Work on perl-AFS and mod_waklog as soon as openafs 1.6.1 is released.
    • Last Month: LCFG master upgrade preparatory work completed. openafs 1.6.1 upgrade prepared.
    • This Month: Upgrade LCFG master server. Work on perl-AFS and mod_waklog.

  • School Database Revamp: Phase 1B & 2B
    • March: Complete fixes and refinement to Course Layer assessment functionality and reporting (L788 replacement).
    • Last Month: Fixes and refinement to Course layer assessment functionality and reporting largely completed. Database server upgraded to PostgreSQL 9.2 and SL6_64 (some assessment functionality had been pending on this change).
    • This Month: Implement Year/Programme layer assessment functionality and reporting (L787 replacement).

  • Collaborative LaTeX System - Remedial Work
    • March: finish component, port server to sl6
    • Last Month: Some more work done on component, Worked on some of the issues wrt the SL6 port
    • This Month: Finish component, finish port

  • SL6 upgrade for RAT Unit
    • March: (Schedule) all research servers; also infdb conversion.
    • Last Month: cake and infdb services converted; some component updates; identified candidates for scrapping
    • This Month: schedule RAT VM server and more research servers

  • KDC upgrade to 1.9
    • March: Fill out the wiki page and pass it around for thorough inspection
    • Last Month: Started to flesh out the page
    • This Month: Continue to add to the page; probably bring up a test KDC, as we can't work on the slaves due to AFSDB, and we don't want to do the work on the master first.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade
    • March: Work with IS to get AFS/kerberos to install at install time. Plan to finalise testing with selected users and finalise rollout plan. Work on firefox version issues.
    • Last Month: Stalled awaiting IS providing AFS/kerberos as part of startup script. Made general plans about implementation.
    • This Month: Order necessary licences. Final testing with selected users and finalise rollout plan. The default firefox version will be 3.6 initially but it looks as though it will be changed to version 10 after the end of April.

  • Server Hardware Interaction phase 2
    • March: Start project.
    • Last Month: Started project. Started investigated Dell and HP server firmware upgrade arrangements, especially RPM-based.
    • This Month: Assess what's achievable in the way of making server firmware upgrades easy/routine/comprehensible.
