  • Replacement of LPRng with CUPS

  • Review/Update Submit Practical Submission System
    • December: Start removing the years from the submit code. I don't think that this will be completed this month so the milestone representing this has been moved to January.

  • Revisit Account Management
    • December: Significant work required by changes to database. Continuation of data cleanup work. Continuation of account lifecycle. Building up to be in position to start deletions. Probable meeting to be called in early new year to decide where line should be drawn under current project.

  • Final Stages of Commodity WCMS work
    • December: I'd imagine not too much with the holidays, and it will depend on what the meeting says is required for sign off.

  • EUCLID Interoperability
    • December: Completion of Applicant feed. Completion of documentation. Final QA. By the end of this month all the mechanism supporting data that is to be automatically fed and sync'ed from upstream for the PGR/DTC Desktop deployment will have been completed, in place, live and the setup will be finalised (most already is).
    • Last Month: Applicant feed(s) completed. Some refinements to all feeds. Generic support library for sync load scripts. Mostly documented. QA complete. All up and running.
    • This Month: Nothing (although there have been some minor adjustments to the applicant feed to account for unanticipated behaviour in EUCLID).

  • School Database Revamp
    • December: Complete server work needed for PGR Desktop deployment. Implement PGR web reports. Snagging list (remaining few high priority ones, start on some medium priority ones).
    • Last Month: Server work completed bar inserts. Workarounds put in place to allow deployment and final QA of PGR desktops.
    • This Month: Roll out of the system for IGS. Server inserts. PGR reports (including portal web server and framework). Minor work to facilitate the move of legacy ITO and COS displays from the old interface into the new system. Continue with medium priority snagging items.

  • Software build farm
    • December: Finish the build daemon. Write a component to configure the daemons.
    • Last Month: Build daemon now working. Component written which can configure most required config options.
    • This Month: Figure out how to handle a few tricky problems with the build daemon such as killing mock when a job has been going too long. Finish the component. Finish the user-level documentation. Setup all the necessary servers and move the whole system into the user-acceptance phase.

  • AV facilities
    • December: Mediascape due Friday 17th December

  • inSpace
    • December: finish dhcp component enhancement.

  • Improvements in mirror management
    • December: I'm hopeful that as things quieten down for the break, I'll get the bulk of this done before the end of the Tird.

  • Redevelop User Documentation
    • December: Continue to check current docs, ask for comments on progress so far, continue to port.

  • Implement print quotas via Pcounter
    • December: Continue with the effort. Note: I am not optimistic that this will give us what we want - see Report on progress to date, and I recommend that the various Plan B's be investigated.
    • Last Month: Discussed at December Dev Meeting. Project now stalled from our point of view; awaiting clarification/fixes from IS regarding the behaviour of their print servers. ascobie is chasing this.
    • This Month: Waiting for response from IS.

  • Replacement for VMware Server
    • December: Agree requirements, continue experiments and write up findings
    • Last Month: Requirements identified, more experimentation with particularly KVM and report (including proposals) begun
    • This Month: Complete report and circulate for comment/discussion. Hopefully agree on path to take next.

  • loghost implementation
    • December: rsyslog component (this would have been needed anyway later in the project); try 5.6.x
    • Last Month:

  • DICE F12^h3
    • December: finish up any software required for semester 2
    • Last Month: Nearly finished
    • This Month: write up for signoff

  • Move www.inf to new technology
    • December: Probably a few tweaks to the new student-services site on Plone on www.inf, but want to concentrate on the mirror project this month.

    • December: Produce test suite then do further work
