Please fill in actual activity for Last Month (October) and intended activity for This Month (November) for projects you are responsible for. For reference, the intended activity recorded for October is included where an entry had been made (it is considered unhelpful to alter this to match what actual activity was :). It is acceptable to change devproj milestones as part of this process, however if you do please indicate that you have done so below, for example by adding a Change of Plan bullet point, so that the meeting is alerted to the changes.

  • Revisit Account Management
    • October: Put new server into operation. Re-package client side code and distribute everywhere. Meeting to discuss data issues (Thu 7th). Note: toby off for 2-3 weeks in Oct.
    • Last Month: New server used for some testing. Had meeting to discuss data issues. Otherwise, very little activity as Toby/Simon off for most of Oct.
    • This Month: Put new server into operation. Re-package client side code and distribute everywhere. Implement account lifecycle. Start addressing data issues. LCFG component to manage server. Tool for adding agents, additional identities (if time).
    • Change of Plan: devproj milestones revamped, although project tracking is being done primarily in the PrometheusTodo

  • Prometheus AFS PTS conduit
    • October: produce test suite, agree further work to be done
    • Last Month: test suite not produced, further work agreed
    • This Month: Produce test suite then do further work

  • Final Stages of Commodity WCMS work
    • October: Wait to see if this can be signed off. If we're awaiting our Drupal proof of concept site, then perhaps this could officially stall until that's complete?
    • Last Month: Updated final report with details of what I believe are the loose ends that may be required to get the projected accepted for sign off.
    • This Month: It depends on what the meeting says, but probably not much.

  • School Database Revamp
    • October: Finish working through client snag list, IGS custom desktop, EUGEX sync/feed for IGS and IGS data model functionality. Complete server support for custom desktops. QA. Pass out for end user live functionality testing. Continue 3G Data Model proof checking.
    • Last Month: Almost all of the pre-deployment client/DDL/Desktop snag list items addressed. IGS Custom Desktop complete (and frozen). EUGEX sync/feed for IGS data completed and now running on the production service (under and as part of the implementation of the new generic sync framework). IGS data model functional process implementation effectively complete (some QA remains). Server support for custom desktops now very near completion (custom desktop queries and updates almost there, custom desktop adds still pending). 3G Data Model proof checking completed. QA ongoing.
    • This Month: IGS QA and Deployment (?) - primarily now just waiting on server completion and testing. Implementation of the new suite of PGR web reports. Moving onto next target deployment - requiring Duties Desktop development and functional process implementation (and potentially deployment). End user documentation (being done by support). Pull in data model fixes from proof checking.

  • AV facilities
    • October: Should be here 18th October am and again November 5th
    • Last Month: Mediascape were here on 18th October
    • This Month: Mediascape due 5th November

    • October: sort out networking
    • Last Month:started on networking
    • This Month: move all macs to inspace wire, get dhcp handing out static ip addresses and configuring projectors

  • Redevelop User Documentation
    • October: Start porting content and continue familiarisation with Drupal.
    • Last Month: Not as much progress as hoped but Drupal decision made and familiarisation continues.
    • This Month: Trawl current end-user docs. to identify and correct errors prior to porting.

  • loghost implementation
    • October: Continue reading, testing and planning. Was going to throw all "develop" machines into the mix, though holding off with "testing" and "stable" until the real loghost is in place and reasonably well tuned, but apparent resource issues on the test loghost linnaeus have to be tracked down and sorted out first. Still to think about non-syslog logs, though rsync and spanning-maps do come to mind.
    • Last Month: Not much progress, due to holidays
    • This Month: Install an up-to-date version of rsyslog on a test machine (either 5.6.x built from scratch, or 4.4.x backported from F13), and repeat the abortive loghost test with initially network infrastructure machines and then adding "develop" machines if possible.

  • DICE F12^h3
    • October: semester 2 software.
    • Last Month: all but 14 semester 2 packages ported, semseter 2 staf contacted about software requirements
    • This Month: chase non replies and fix remaining packages.

  • Move www.inf to new technology
    • October: Try again to get a Plone instance on wafer and the resilience plans. The November power off will probably mean we end up implementing something like what I'd envisage. Hopefully some Drupal stuff too with Alison for the doc project.
    • Last Month: Not done any of the planned work. Have spent some time looking at accessing the central ERA/Publications repository. I believe HoS wants this working by the end of the year. Moved all outstanding milestones back a month or two, and added new milestone to track ERA progress.
    • This Month: More likely to be ERA stuff over previous goals.

  • Port LCFG to F13
    • October: Configure KDM + final report.
    • Last Month: KDM component writtent and deployed, 64bit support completed and final report written.
    • This Month: Signoff

  • Improvements in mirror management
    • October: Finish new component, rmirrorclient, and the updated rmirror component, and header files. Test that things work as expected.
    • Last Month: Didn't spend any time on this.
    • This Month: Try again to finish new component, rmirrorclient, and the updated rmirror component, and header files. Test that things work as expected.

  • Hadoop cluster
    • October: Putting Hadoop 0.20.2 on all Beowulf nodes for the MSc Extreme Computing module.
    • Last Month: Put Hadoop 0.20.2 on all Beowulf nodes for the MSc Extreme Computing module; configured; tested; used successfully by students.
    • This Month: No work needed. Cluster sees more use by students, then continues as a test cluster for research.

  • Software build farm
